When we found our newest home, the one thing it was lacking was a laundry room. Yes, I was confused by the lack of such a room myself … The day we looked at the house, I kept saying, “where is the laundry room???” – …When we finally found the full size washer and dryer, they were hidden under the stairwell.

Since we renovated the entire kitchen in this house; these two photos are to show you where the Washer/Dryer were prior (that torn out wall area), which was under the stairs. We had to do that, to get them out!

As some of you may know, our last house had quite the laundry room. It was MASSIVE! I knew we didn’t need a room like that ever again; but still, carrying laundry up and down stairs was just a pain. And not having a laundry room, was impractical for re-sale.

As you will see, these next two photos, the sofa/red-curtain room… I’m sure it was a great space for the previous owners, but it was an unnecessary room off of the master for our needs. SO… after no great debate, we agreed to convert the space to a laundry room!

In the meantime, I reassured Brian, OKAY, he reassured me, since the ceiling was coming out in the kitchen; we would have access to this same room, above it, and could re-support the structure if needed. But it could be a great location for a laundry room. Since the water, gas, and electric were all open and exposed below, it made this room MUCH Easier to consider the conversion.

My biggest battle with Brian and Zack over this room was saving the hardwoods; ultimately I’m Glad we did tile in this room, but it was so hard to remove those.

I quickly explained to my husband that I had a plan, and he need not worry. Having a vision for hidden potential is just a blessing – I thank God for it daily. But here’s the thing about us, I LOVE pocket doors, he does not… I’ll let you guess who won out in the end.

As always, thanks for letting me write, and share these renovations with you all; this is where I find my therapy…
