I don’t always see things the same as my husband: Life, objects, our homes… which is why this is the perfect little corner of our home to reflect on our differences, through our estate sale finds, and how I bring them together to create a harmonious space.

That Chest: I see something like it at an estate sale; guarantee he walks right past… Of course he did this one, it was a hideous green with terrible pulls! I still haven’t found any that I love to replace them with, just yet.

The Artwork: Granted, we both walk in estate sales with art in mind, but these, I never dreamed of owning these random pieces. Brian saw something in them… after several framing jobs, they finally work for me. To give him full credit, they are the top 2 most commented on pieces of art in our home.

It just so happens these pieces come together to create this empty corner in our formal living room, and together, probably cost me less than $100.

One of my favorite things to do with Brian is debate over our estate sale finds (especially while we’re out shopping these sales)… Usually goes such that, I want a pair of chairs, trust me, he does not Ever want chairs! Later, someone compliments them in our home, he laughs knowing I was right about their potential all along….

On the other hand I do the same for him when someone appreciates his bargains! Like our pinball machine, that one gets rave reviews. On the flip side, this piano bench, is not my best find, but has made it through 3 moves, and a few cushion modifications … sometimes I think I’m just going to get rid of it, but other times it makes me reminisce of my grandparents house and their piano bench, so I can’t let go of it! Over the years, we’ve moved most of our pieces to the store, and every time we move, I transition a few back and forth to storage.

While we may have our differences on which items we personally select at these estate sales – we tend to agree, mixing these old pieces in with some new here and there, make our home feel a lot warmer! I have to say, I enjoy walking around our home, and seeing small reflections of us….
