For some, you know we moved into a new home, in December. If you’re not familiar with this home, checkout my saved highlightinstagram stories. We are no where near settled that’s for sure; but I’m slowly making the house feel like, home.
In all, the rest of the house is shaping up, but this main living room; the Formal Living Room; it’s leaving me a little bit, unsettled.
While I love this green sofa, it unfortunately, cannot stay. I Know. I Know. But here’s why. Where I’m standing, to take that picture, is in my front doorway. To the left, are the only set of stairs in this house – behind the dogs, the rest of the house. This room is the room that says, “welcome to our home” … Want to see the before?
Granted it looks better/ updated, the furniture here was a little tricky to walk around too… The green sofa is too large for this room to allow any real walking room; flow. So unfortunately, I feel the room is just, in limbo.
I think I’ve done well in the past seeing the overall vision for a room. But when it boils down to commitment of furniture, or placement, I really don’t excel in that category. Picture below of a prior Formal Living Room, front door entry-
This house was built in the 1920’s, but what do you do with these original formal rooms now? I really question, are formal living rooms even a thing anymore? The answer is yes, especially in the South!
I find myself going crazy on pinterest and my favorite designer Instagram accounts, but really; they aren’t giving me much because… everything is white, with 2 black labs, a bulldog, and a cat – white furniture just doesn’t work for us!
Knowing we probably won’t stay in this home very long, making it hard to spend (too much) money on this room. I also doubt we have another formal living room, but who knows? I’m leaning toward maybe a pair of chairs or a settee. Any Thoughts!?
